The Construction Products Association (CPA) has just downgraded its growth forecast for the UK construction market this year from 4.3 to 2.8%. As we know, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine is exacerbating the price pressures we are already facing, particularly when it comes to energy, and that is on top of ongoing issues around labour and product supply.

The good news is that the CPA predicts positive market conditions in the short term with demand holding up at least until the Autumn, but the bad news is that it anticipates tougher times ahead. In the retail home improvement market, which is particularly exposed to the cost-of-living crisis, output is actually expected to fall by 3% overall in 2022 and by a further 4% in 2023, albeit from the record highs of the post Covid boom.

Stock

Part of the reason some of our competitors are still struggling with lead times is that they simply don’t have the resources to invest in stock. That’s not the case here. We’ve got more than £1m worth of stock in our warehouse currently, which means we can guarantee two-week delivery on standard glazed stock items and one week on unglazed stock items, And remember, we also deliver anywhere in the UK for free.
