Realistically, I think we can expect 2023 to be a tough year for some. Demand amongst middle income earners is likely to be suppressed by a mix of rising inflation and uncertainty around the housing market, and that will have a disproportionate impact on the mainstream PVC-U sector.
By contrast, I think the aluminium sector will hold up much better – just because the kind of affluent, aspirational homeowners who tend to choose aluminium will inevitably be more sheltered from the cost-of-living crisis.
If anything, it might just be the tipping point that lots of PVC-U companies need to venture into aluminium for the first time – whether that’s fabricators looking to buy in from a reliable supplier rather than spending time and resources setting up for themselves, or installers finally adding aluminium windows, sliders and bifolds to their portfolio.
Now that our mission is complete at AluFold Direct to transform ourselves into the kind offabricator that makes buying and fitting in aluminium as easy as it is in PVC-U, we’re excited about the opportunities ahead.
