How Secure Are Bifold Doors?
Introduction
Here at AluFold Direct, we’re proud of our bifold doors. We’ve noticed however that sometimes, our customers are worried about how secure they are. It’s probably because they have a wider glazing area than regular doors, but there’s a general perception that they’re not as safe and could be targeted by burglars looking for weak spots.
We’d like to reassure you that this isn’t the case. Bifold doors are strong and safe and you’ve no reason to worry about criminals trying to gain entry to your house. Here’s what you need to know.
Secure Hardware
Modern bifold doors are fitted with the latest in security hardware. At AluFold, we’ve signed up for Secured By Design, a national Police initiative that encourages the use of high-quality products that reduce the risk of break-ins. We use concealed multi-point locking systems that will keep unwanted intruders out and give you complete peace of mind.
Glass Safety
It’s not just the locking mechanisms that are tough, our glazing is too. The doors are fitted with safety glass as standard and they can be upgraded with a laminate. This means they won’t shatter when struck with force and will hold together to keep you safe. This will protect them from burglars, but also more innocent threats; if your children are keen sportsmen, you won’t need to worry about badly aimed cricket balls damaging the glass.
Tough Frames
Lastly, let’s look at the frame. We make our bifold doors with aluminium and this gives them an extra level of security. Aluminium is an inherently strong metal and breaking through it is all but impossible. They won’t warp, twist or corrode over time and you can rely on them to keep your home secure.
