Most Popular Colours For French Doors

Introduction

French doors are a practical and attractive way to liven up the house. During the warmer months, your home will be brighter and airier, and in the winter they can offer stunning views of a snow-capped back garden. It’s no wonder they’re becoming increasingly popular, but what may surprise you is how many colour choices there are.

There’s a common misconception that aluminium bifold doors are limited to just three colours; grey, white, and black. That was the case when they were first introduced, but it’s no longer true. You can now get a wide range of colours for bifold doors. Here’s what you need to know.

The Colour Range

You are entirely at liberty to choose a classic colour for your new bifold doors, but you can also get something more offbeat. Your doors can be customised for anything from the RAL or British Standard colour charts, so if you want a luminous bright orange door, just ask. But if you’re unsure what to go for, how do you pick? And which are the most popular aluminium French doors colours?

Choosing A French Door Colour

When selecting your colour, it’s best to think about how it would look in the overall body of the house, rather than thinking of the doors in isolation. You don’t want your door to contrast sharply with any nearby windows or other features. For instance, if you’ve got timber-look windows, picking a similar brown is a sensible choice.

However, if you want your doors to stand out, think of which colours will complement one another. A mix of dark reds and greens go well together (and will look very festive at Christmas time), while neutral shades can be remarkably versatile. Our one major recommendation though is don’t go overboard. Try to limit how many colours are featured on your house, or it’ll look garish and over the top.

The Classics

We’ve installed doors of all colours, but by far the most popular are black, anthracite grey, and white. Here at AluFold, we maintain a large stock of these three standard colours to meet demand. All three are very sleek, and stylish, and give your aluminium doors a modern touch. They look crisp and clean and we’re not surprised that our customers keep requesting them.
